London troubadours to visit city folk club

HOEDOWN was the key word at Michelle Shocked’s gig at the Corn Exchange on Monday.

Although I felt she seemed a little tired – both musically and literally – there was a good reception for her brand of folk pop.

Although the older songs got noticeably the better reaction, the middle section of the show – in which the band simulated a barn dance complete, at one stage, with ‘clockwork’ chicken on wheels – was excellent.

It’ll be interesting to see where she goes from here.
